What we believe
Amazed by Grace
The faith we have in Jesus Christ is a response to God's unmerited grace towards us. It is He who sent His Son, not because mankind deserves salvation, but because it desperately needs it. It is He who sends His Holy Spirit, to teach us of our need of Christ, and to lead us to Him. It is He who supports and strengthens us in our faith by His Holy Spirit, and He will guide us through this life to a place in Heaven. No wonder we sing of 'Amazing Grace'!
Basis of Faith
'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching' (Acts 2: 42)
We believe in:
- The Holy Scriptures as the Word of God given by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and the Divine authority of both Old and New Testaments as the sole and sufficient rule of faith and conduct.
- One true and living God, infinite, eternal and unchangeable, in three Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- The creation of all things by God for his own wise purposes.
- Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, his virgin birth, his real and perfect manhood, the truth of his teaching, his death upon the cross offered once and for all to provide satisfaction for the sin of the world, his bodily resurrection from the dead, his ascension into heaven, his present ministry of intercession, and his coming again in power and glory.
- The Holy Spirit by whose illumination, conviction and regeneration men are brought to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ; his work of sanctification in the lives of believers, and his direction of the worship, ministry and administration of the church.
- The fall of man and the consequent sinfulness, guilt and condemnation of all men; the free and perfect justification of all who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ.
- The resurrection of the body and the final judgment of all men; the eternal perfection and blessedness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
